Play Area

March 19th 2008

Just in time for the Easter holidays, and after almost three months anticipation, the new play area was finally open for business today, and it was worth the wait, having gone

from this....
To this...

The work took longer than expected due to the appalling weather over the last few weeks, but the valiant workmen toiled on through the worst of it. For some while, the area looked like a re-enactment of the Somme, but then, in the last couple of days, it was transformed as turf was laid and seed sown. As we realised that the end was in sight, parents became as excited as the children, and small groups would regularly gather at the end of the school day to monitor progress, so that today, when the safety barriers were removed, everybody flooded in for a good inspect.

Not content with new equipment, the Council has thrown in landscaping, with small hillocks for the children to exercise their imaginations as well as their muscles, as well as boulders and sculptures. Two sets of swings cater for different age groups, and, whilst the younger children have a see saw, slide and small roundabout, the older children are well catered for with a large climbing frame complete with netting. There is even something for the older age group, with a meeting circle just outside the play area proper.

Why not come and see the new play area for yourself during the Easter Holidays - a good cheap day out!
