Sale of Public Park Land
The Council is selling off public
parkland. Can you be sure that one near you won’t be next? This action is
sending out completely the wrong messages:
- The Council has said that it
does not intend this sale to act as a precedent, but does that matter? Surely
a precedent is set whether intended to or not.
- The Council has said that they
will ensure the House is renovated to an appropriate standard. How? They
didn’t protect it when they owned it!
- The sale of both the park land
and the house is in direct contravention to the will of Colonel Newton, the
benefactor who gave them to Altrincham Council.
