Valadain and Sharoshi
[To take place between the funeral night and the Quest for Eth]
The Godslayer is pensive in the following days. For the first time in his turbulent young life, he feels true fear. Fear of death, now, and more so, fear of loss.
Finally he reaches a decision. Calling the Glaenynn Sharoshi to him, he speaks to the mighty dragon.
''Sharoshi, my friend and comrade, I have asked much of you in the past, and will again in the quest we face, all in the service of Grayhawk and Justice."
“It is an honour and a privilege to serve you, Godslayer.”
"What I am asking now is purely for myself, in the name of our friendship."
"Will you find one of your lesser kin [ie normal dragons] who is willing to act as steed and bodyguard to Queen Illythar? I fear that her association with us may make her a target, as it did her mother, and I... would rather she came to no harm."
“I know of the perfect candidate…a youngling from the Darklands. He is both proud and competent and – should the good lady wish it – he will act as both steed and protector. His name is Ashiki.”
At this point, the young man colours deeply, and hopes Sharoshi doesn't know enough of humans to understand.
"It would also please me greatly were she and I able to meet again more easily, despite the miles between."
“The Glaennyn are not so cold of heart that they cannot see what is happening, young Valadain, and indeed the love of a dragon is an emotion that few humans could survive. The young queen is worthy of you,” there is a sparkle in the Glaennyn’s eyes, “and your children will be worthy of you also.”
"Of course, Jarik should be aware of this."
Sharoshi bows. “I will inform him of what he needs to know.”
