A native of the high-gravity world Shiranshar in the Albadwi subsector of the Solomani Rim, Jeremiah was a slow starter, but naturally big, strong, and daring.
Leaving school, he enrolled at the local University as a matter of course rather than with any set objective, and flunked out within the first year.
Clearly Acadaemia wasn't the thing for him, at least at this age. Military service beckoned, and the Confederation Marines, very conscious of the coming war, were hiring.
Jeremiah's career in the Marines was a mixture of extremely dull Home Guard assignments and frighteningly dangerous border raids. It was on one of these that the tough little mama from the barrio was assigned to his unit and he and Vasquez met for the first time. Over the next few years it almost began to seem that whenever they were assigned together, Jeremiah would end up getting shot at. However, Vasquez was a wily and skilled warrior, and the two learned to rely on each other.
Her commission in 962 opened a slight gap between them, as she was now an officer and on occasion in command of the operation, but they remained friends. Jeremiah's own promotion from grunt to officer five years later - like Vasquez', due to his deepening involvement in the Party - helped to close that gap.
In 972, Jeremiah was quietly recruited by the Men in Black Suits, and was accepted into the agency that protects us all – SolSec, Solomani Security.
Agent work suited Jeremiah, and he progressed rapidly through the SolSec system.
